Description of Key Icons

The USP—NF/PF Online platform allows users to see multiple versions of documents – if they exist – without having to login to separate publications or visit multiple sites to view official content. Since USP–NF/PF is continuously revised through revisions or through Accelerated Revisions, such as Errata and Revision Bulletins, a single document can have multiple versions. The following three icons are used in the USP—NF/PF Online to always know the official status of a document.

The official status of a particular document is always indicated by any of the following three icons:

Note: This banner along with other color-coded banners (if available) are also displayed on the History tab of the Document Tools.

Note: Notice that at the document level, you can see the date when this specific document became official which may be different from the publication date.

  1. A green check mark image of the green check mark icon to indicate a “Currently Official” status.

  2. A yellow clock image of yellow iconto indicate a “Not Yet Official” or "To Be Official" status.

    1. Note: A document with an official status of “Postponed Indefinitely” displays with:

      1. “To Be Official” status.

      2. “Official date to be determined” instead of date.

      3. If another revision is applied while the document is postponed, the document changes to "Never Official" with no date.

  3. And a red “x” image of red icon to indicate a “No Longer Official”, "Never Official", or "Older Version" status.

    1. Note: If another revision is applied while the document is postponed, the document changes to "Never Official" with no date.

    2. If another revision is applied while a document that has been omitted displays as “No Longer Official” and references that the omission is postponed.

These icon legends are placed on all filter panels to always help you understand the meaning of each icon. These icons are always placed next to each document in the search results, navigation results, and in document view to always indicate the current status of the document. An example is shown below:

Note: When you are in the search results page and you see two results of the same document one preceded with the green icon and the other with a yellow icon, it means that the currently official document with a green icon has been superseded by an errata or revision bulletin, hence the yellow icon.

These icons are also displayed on the color box banner of the following pages:

  1. Dashboard View - to let you know that the currently official publication is the default view.
